Virtual Convening Strategy

Convening is a central part of any successful incubator or accelerator program. Convening is more than just the showcase or pitch event at the end of your program. Everything an Enterprise Support Organisation does to bring people together and build connection is convening. This can include connections within a cohort, between cohort members and mentors, between cohort members and investors, and within mentor and investor groups.

Oftentimes it is easy to jump straight to the details. Who can we get to speak? What awesome people will attend? Wouldn’t this activity be amazing? Unfortunately, when we start with the design it can lead to an amazing event that doesn’t deliver lasting impact for you, your entrepreneurs, or your community.

  • PURPOSE

To understand the reasons to convene, and use that clarity of purpose to inform who you invite, how you structure the event, and which technology you use

  • OUTCOMES

    • Understand the 12 convening objectives
    • Practice exercises like Mad Libs and From/To/Think/Do matrix to clarify your purpose
    • Learn about the Purpose-First convening framework
    • Answer the question, “Is convening the right tool to serve your purpose?”
    • Clarify the possibilities and limitations of virtual convening
  • CONTENT CONTRIBUTED BY

Conveners.org recognises the transformative power that convening, when done right, has to positively change the world. They build powerful communities of practice for mission-driven leaders to connect, learn, and collaborate with each other. They do this work through their Membership Community, their Trailblazer initiative, and by offering Advisory Services.
